The Cathedral Chapter is responsible for the life, worship and mission of Manchester Cathedral. They are trustees under charity law, overseeing the cathedral's good governance, especially its finances and administration.

What is Cathedral Chapter?

The Chapter consists of eight members, the Dean (the Very Revd Rogers Govender), the Residentiary Canons and four other members.

It is the duty of the Chapter to direct and oversee the administration of the affairs of the cathedral, including in particular, to order the worship and promote the mission of the cathedral.

It is also responsible for the cathedral's financial affairs and must prepare an annual report and audited accounts that must be submitted at an agreed time at the end of the year.

All Chapter members work collaboratively and with an equal voice to determine the policy for administering the Cathedral in order to ensure that it is managed effectively and that it is sustainable for future generations.
