Manchester Cathedral has been a place of welcome and hospitality for over 1300 years. The current medieval structure built by Henry V dates from 1421. Located in Manchester city centre in the heart of the Medieval Quarter, the surrounding public realm together with the interior setting of the cathedral offers an ideal place to host an array of multi-faceted events, concerts, brand launches, conferences and intimate fine-dining and grand gala dinners.
Manchester Cathedral is fast becoming a favourite venue to host dinners, corporate events, gigs, concerts and community events.
Using our trusted partners, we can offer traditional and contemporary menus for your events, modern audio-visual equipment and bespoke lighting. Our acoustics are excellent and microphones are not necessary at all events, but can be used if required. (905 sq.m) has a capacity of 1103 people and can seat 940 for dinner.
The Nave (905m2) is suitable for all kind of events and can seat 1000 people for dinner. We can also accommodate 1300 for a standing concert.
(206 sq.m) has a capacity of 190 for dinner.
The Regimental Chapel (206m2) is a good-sized space, which can be combined with the Nave for a total size of 1111m2. This area is suitable for drink receptions, meetings, lectures, seminars, workshops and special events (including lunches and dinners). The area has a capacity of 180 for dinner.
(53 sq.m) has a capacity of 50 for dinner.
The Library (53m2) is a medium-sized meeting room; it is suitable for board meetings, seminars, formal lunches and dinners. The room has a capacity of 50 for dinner.
(26 sq.m) has a capacity of 15 for dinner.
The Cathedral Chapter House (26m2) offers a venue for smaller receptions, as well as board meetings, lectures, seminars, workshops and special events (including lunches and dinners). The room has a capacity of 10 to 15 for dinner.
(48 sq.m) has a capacity of 80 (theatre style).
The Refectory (48m2) is a large meeting room, suitable for special events, lectures, seminars, banqueting, meetings and receptions. It is adjacent to the kitchen. The room has a capacity of 80 (theatre style).
At Manchester Cathedral, we pride ourselves in providing outstanding hospitality. With countless photographic opportunities, we await you for a truly wonderful celebration.Working with our partners we can provide some of the best bespoke event catering in the northwest.
Menus range from the traditional to the contemporary. You can either make a choice from the sample menus supplied or ask our caterers ( Details and partner section below ) to design a menu for your event - supported by excellent wines.
Modern audio-visual equipment can be provided — a digital projector, a presentation point for laptop computers. The acoustics are excellent, microphones are not necessary at all events, but can be used if required. We provide an AV supplier who can help you make the most of the great space on larger functions and customise the cathedral’s lighting to your event.
Your business or social occasion can be made especially memorable by including a guided tour of the cathedral. Commemorative gifts can also be ordered in advance and given to guests as a permanent memento of their visit.
The following areas also which support events taking place in the Cathedral: Kitchen (28 m2), Female restroom (20 m2), Male restroom (11 m2), Disabled restroom (3 m2) and a Single male restroom (2m2).
We have full access for the disabled and in order to protect the cathedral’s historic fabric, smoking is not permitted in any part of the building.
Manchester Cathedral and its conference facilities are available from 0800 to 2300 every day except Sunday. Morning, afternoon and evening sessions can be booked separately and extensions can be negotiated.
